General survey shows that most married couples have sex 58 times a year on the average in the United States.
Personally, i believe that single couples indulge in sex more than married couples on the average. I think at some point in marriage, Sex becomes secondary due to overriding issues
Married couples are building lives together and at some point, the marriage is no longer about sex largely, they are both committed to other things like work, children, projects, investments and maybe health issues and sustainability.
Married couples get to a point in their marriage that the most important things to them are shared interests like giving their children the best lives, having investments and completing projects. All of these take hard work and money.
Most couples are not so much into sex like single couples. You need time and energy for "good sex". Married couples get overwhelmed are mostly tired and sometimes just want to go to sleep. A married man or a woman who sees the partner working so hard everyday won't have a problem with not having sex everyday because they understand each other's routine.
Just like men, it is some wives who shy away from sex. Fatigue is not gender specific. The body goes through wear and tear due to hard work and this can take a toll on a couple's sex life. Sexual feelings also wane and if not properly nurtured and rejuvenated. There is also this factor of couples getting too familiar with each other to the point of boredom which make sex become somewhat mechanical more than emotional.
As for Single couples, new love or feeling is intoxicating. The passion for sex is higher. Mostly if the couples are in love because the relationships are new and the couples are still trying to impress each other. Single couples are more enthused about sex because the common interests they share are emotions, fantasy and sexual attraction. They're not building anything, but sharing their feelings and having sex.
A married couple assumably believe they own each other and will always be together and can always have sex, but singles make the best of time to enjoy sex whilst it lasts. Then, there is also this factor of couples who live apart for reasons best known to them.
This is my personal summation from the 58% according to the survey. I do not write as an authority on this issue and this summation does not in any way apply to every couple.

Yes, sometimes life happening can be in the way of having sex for married people, but when there is a way, there is always a will. Women especially loose their sense of self after getting married, some men don’t help matters either, as romance is not part of their vocabulary, that is why every woman wants to be made love to,but most woman don’t like sex.
Omoye Ohiku 😀 less than 10 times a year ! As it is 58 times a year is insufficient in my opinion. Are they roommates? On a side note I have heard some couples maintain sex diary in order to keep the number in check 😀😀
ok_eve, I think that is the point of the survey, that for a marriage to be considered broken down, the couple have to have sex less than 10 times a year. That if they make love up to ten times a year, the marriage is still intact.
