IS LOVE ALONE ENOUGH FOR A RELATIONSHIP?

Love is an intense feeling of deep affection, a great interest and pleasure in someone or to feel a deep romantic or sexual attachment to someone. So, love is somewhat all about feeling and feeling is an emotional reaction.

Often times, i have heard or read people say love is enough for a relationship. To me, that is illusory because there's not one relationship or marriage that is thriving based on a feeling without commitment and work. Feelings wane with time if not nurtured. A lot goes into a relation besides feelings. In a marital relationship, i want to believe feeling can only be sustained if expectations are met. There's no one who would genuinely have feelings for an irresponsible partner in all ramifications. isn't this why people split?

No matter how much you love someone, irrespective of how intense your feeling for someone is, as time progresses, as you grow older and become more aware of yourself, you begin to have expectations and if those expectations are not met, the feeling starts to wane. It is not unethical or irrational to expect that the person you love, loves you back. It is not pride or out of place to expect that the person you love treats you with dignity and respect. It is not selfish to expect that the person you love shouldn't cause you harm.

So, when you say love is enough, you're indirectly saying anyone who quits a relationship or marriage never loved his or her partner. When you say love is enough, you're indirectly encouraging those in abusive relationships to stay put simply because they're in love. Saying love is enough and telling people to leave abusive relationship or marriages is contradictory! if you believe love is enough, you should encourage them to stay because of love irrespective of abuse or not.

Any relationship or marriage thriving is because two people have decided to stay committed to each other and put in the work to make the relationship or marriage a success. Not simply because of feelings, but because they have life's goals to meet and fulfill. If love alone is what keeps a relationship, every single one of us will be married to our first love and lived happily ever after.

There are many people in love and not married and there are many people married and not in love. People marry for different reasons other than love. Many people marry people who fit into their expectation and not their feelings. Many people marry to meet their needs and others marry out of appreciation of what they're gaining from the other person, not necessarily for they feel for for the person. If love is enough, why do people cheat?

This article is not deny that love truly exist, but just saying love alone is not enough. until one can prove that if that person he or she is in love with and married to turns out to be everything outside of their expectation, they will still be with the person, until you say if that person turns toxic and harmful, you will still be with the person, then love alone is not enough.

There's a lot more to a relationship than than love. In between what you you call love is appreciation, loyalty, benefit, lust, endurance. until your love is tested, you can't cant prove that love alone is enough.

So, What's your take? Is love alone enough for a relationship or not? Let's discuss...

Love alone can never be enough for anyone except the person just wants to pretend.
