The former U.S president had stressed the importance of planning for a pandemic and laid the foundation for the present day federal response to COVID -19. In the summer of 2005. President George W Bush was on a vacation in Crawford,Texas when he picked up a copy of a new book about the 1918 flu pandemic and he was gobsmacked. When he returned to Washington, he called his top homeland security adviser, Fran Townsend into the oval office and gave her the galley of historian John M Barry's "The Great Influenza" which told the chilling tale of the mysterious plague that "would kill more people than outbreak of any disease in the history of humanity".
George was completely taken by the reality that it was going to happen. In a November 2005 speech at the National Institute of Health, He laid out proposals in granular details - describing with stunning prescience how a pandemic would unfold. Among those in the audience was Dr Antony Fauci, the leader of the current crisis response, who was then and still is now the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. Dr Anthony Fauci was recently on the Daily Show to discuss to this effect with Trevor Noah.
In his words, President George W Bush said, "A pandemic is a lot like a forest of fire, if caught early it might be extinguished with limited damage, if allowed to smolder , undetected, it can grow to an inferno that can spread quickly beyond our ability to control it" president Bush also said, "To respond to a pandemic, we need medical personnel and adequate supplies of equipment. In a pandemic, everything from syringes to hospital beds, respirators masks and protective equipment would be in short supply".
President Bush told the gathered scientists that they would need to develop a vaccine in record time, that if a pandemic strikes, that America must have a surge capacity in place that will allow them bring a new vaccine on line quickly and manufacture enough to immunize every American against the pandemic strain. President Bush set out to spend $7 billion building out his plan.
His cabinet secretaries urged their staffs to take preparation seriously. The government launched a website, www.pandemic.gov. that is still in use today, but as time passed, it became increasingly difficult to justify the continued funding, staffing and attention.
Apparently, the effect of the COVID - 19 pandemic is lack of preparedness and has no correlation with 5G. The wireless generation is an evolution. every next generation is an enhancement of the older and has more to offer in terms of network and connectivity. The world is getting smaller as the population is increasing, so is technology getting more advanced. We all need to find adaptive measures to cope with the change we are about to face instead of spreading propaganda.
Aje Iziokhai, that is life. We always think we have it worse until we meet the morst!
The way I am in love with this man now ehh, I could not stand him before, but going by what we are experiencing now in the White House, I will choose him one million times over now.
He wasn't alone in this, Obama and Bill Gates also talked about this "flu like" pandemic that would be similar to the 1918 flu pandemic and the world needed to be ready, especially America. I guess it is understandable that since no one knew exactly when this incident was supposed to take place, spending billions preparing for it wasn't sustainable. It's unfortunate :-(
Interesting! How come they didn't do anything about it
